Many women are paying a heavy price in the conflict in Syria and other deprive countries. Many have lost husbands, fathers, and sons. Many are the sole breadwinners, taking on the financial and emotional responsibilities in anyway they can in order to survive. This can be immensensely stressful and face many challenges. Many widows feel abandoned, lost, isolated and face a lone fight for survival and to feed their children. Many Syrian women have lost hope, and feel forgotten. Their struggles in their loss, many not even sure if their husband are fead or will they be returning back to them, all has become too much. It is unimaginable in their ordeal they have gone through, tested with loss, health and hunger.
After a request from Al Shaam for something to be given to the widows, which will give them some light of hope, make them feel they are not forgotten and we are here to help; Widows Gift Pack full of personalised items were many for 300 widows. The joy they received was unbelievable and touched them. Even though their loss can never be returned, nor compensated, something small as Gift Pack gives them hope and reassurance that their du'aas (prayers) are not in vain and many sisters in the UK haven't forgotten them.
The widow gift appeal was one of the first projects for the widows that were received during the blessed month of Ramadan 2017, Alhamdulillah. There are many more support, gifts to send to the widows to help ease their suffering, which the DOTU will be continuously working towards.
